In August all landowners will be receive a ballot to vote on candidates for SIRWCD Board of Supervisors. If you are taxpayer and you’ve read your tax statement, you will notice the hundreds of dollars you pay per year to the South Indian River Water Control District. For too long an unsilent few from Palm Beach Country Estates have held the majority on SIRWCD’s board and have held too much influence over Jupiter Farms, while they vote for projects that only serve to further their own private agendas and the agenda of their cronies.
This year, Jupiter Farms is in the position to elect two candidates and steer this board back to fairness and smart management for the district If you were at the last Jupiter Farms Residents meeting, you heard from three of the four candidates. Two long-time Jupiter residents and one candidate who conveniently managed to lease a property days before ballot qualifications were due. At that meeting the choice in candidates to represent Jupiter Farms became clear. Stephen Hinkle and John Meyer possess the background and knowledge to not only serve our community well, but they also have the moral compass to serve district fairly without outside influence.
Please understand that SIRWCD votes are one vote per acre owned land. So talk to your neighbors and let them know what’s going on. We will be posting this informational endorsement around the community and inserting it the Jupiter Farmer in hopes of reaching as many landowners as possible. Jupiter Farms returned 1279 responses in the SIRWCD poll last January (of the 1835 total); let’s do even better for the election. Please look for the ballot in the mail, vote for your Jupiter Farms candidates and be sure to return the ballot. It’s not just about paving; it’s about fairness.
